The Manwerehene of Sabin Akrofrom and Asanteman Norway Hene, Otumfuo Brempong Nana Kota Ntiamoah, in collaboration with the Sammi Awuku Foundation and Brann Football Club of Bergen, Norway, has donated sports kits to the Akuapem Royal Football Academy to boost youth football development in Ghana.
The donation, which included sets of jerseys, footballs, boots and other sporting equipment, is aimed at motivating young players and promoting grassroots football in the Akuapem area.
Speaking at the presentation, Otumfuo Brempong Nana Kota Ntiamoah said the gesture forms part of his commitment to give back to society and support youth development through sports.
According to him, football remains a powerful tool that keeps the youth away from social vices, creates opportunities and unites communities, hence the need for collective support.
“I am happy to partner with the Sammi Awuku Foundation and Brann Football Club in Bergen to support our brothers back home. We want to see these young talents grow and become future stars for Ghana,” he stated.
The Manwerehene expressed profound gratitude to the Sammi Awuku Foundation and the management of Brann Football Club, one of Norway’s top professional clubs, for their generosity and willingness to support a local club in Ghana.
He also used the opportunity to call on Ghanaians in the diaspora, especially those in Norway and Europe, to emulate the gesture and contribute to development back home.
“Development is a shared responsibility. Whether you are in Norway, Europe or America, you can do something small to support your community. Let us all come together and support sports, education and health in Ghana,” he appealed.
Management of the Akuapem Royal Football Academy expressed heartfelt appreciation for the support, describing it as timely and motivating, and assured that the kits will be put to good use to inspire the team to work harder.
