Offinso North Youth Protest: Nkwaankwaa Residents Demand Immediate Fix To Years-Long Network Failure
Youth of Nkwaankwaa in the Offinso North District of the Ashanti Region have taken to the streets to protest years of poor telecommunication network in the area.
The aggrieved youth say they have been neglected by political leaders for decades despite repeated promises to fix their network challenges.
According to them, politicians from both major political parties have used the community’s network problem as a campaign message to win votes, only to abandon them after elections.
They described the situation as a scam by their leaders, declaring that “enough is enough.”
The youth disclosed that following concerns raised on the floor of Parliament by the Member of Parliament for Offinso North, Dr. Fred Kyei Asamoah, equipment meant to address the network challenge was released.
However, they alleged that the District Chief Executive for Offinso North, Hon. Caesar Fosu Acheampong, took custody of the equipment and instructed a driver to transport it, but the equipment has not been seen in the community for over seven months.
They added that the landlord who volunteered his house to store the equipment is now frustrated, lamenting that the equipment is rotting in his forecourt and occupying his space.
The youth say they will continue to demand action until Nkwaankwaa is connected to a reliable telecommunication network.
