- NDC Rewarded Your Sacrifices With NHIA Manager Position; Focus On Your Job And Leave Party Communication To Others — Yaw Nsiah Tells Eric Yeboah Kyeremeh
An aspirant for the Dormaa Central Constituency Communications Officer position of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Hon. Yaw Nsiah, has called on the incumbent Communications Officer, Hon. Eric Yeboah Kyeremeh, to focus on his role as Manager of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) and allow others to handle the party’s communication activities.
According to Hon. Nsiah, Hon. Kyeremeh’s appointment as NHIA Manager was a reward for his sacrifices and contributions towards the NDC’s victory in the 2024 general elections, and he should therefore concentrate on his official responsibilities.
He maintained that other party members, including himself, should be given the opportunity to communicate the party’s achievements and policies to the public.
The comments come amid the ongoing contest for the Dormaa Central Constituency Communications Officer position, with Hon. Yaw Nsiah seeking to take over from the incumbent.
Hon. Nsiah argued that people naturally focus more on their sources of income and believes Hon. Kyeremeh is paying more attention to his job at the NHIA than to the party’s communication activities, since party communication duties are voluntary and unpaid.
He noted that NDC grassroots members have questioned the slow pace of work in the constituency’s communications department, which he attributed to the incumbent’s demanding official duties at the NHIA.
Hon. Nsiah stated that he did not work in isolation to secure victory for the Member of Parliament for Dormaa Central, Hon. John Kwame Adu Jack, and the NDC in the 2024 general elections, despite serving as the MP’s personal assistant. He stressed that the victory was a collective effort involving communicators, party executives and members.
He added that his role as the MP’s personal assistant played a key part in promoting the parliamentary candidate’s campaign ahead of the 2024 elections, and that his track record demonstrates his ability to deliver results, making him qualified to lead the communications department.
He concluded that since the NDC is in government, the responsibility lies with the party’s Communications Officer to communicate government’s achievements to branch officers for onward dissemination to the grassroots.
According to him, this will create awareness of the developmental projects undertaken by the government and help convince more people to vote for the NDC in subsequent elections, adding that he is committed to fulfilling that responsibility if given the nod.
