Ghana Gas Must Share CSR Projects Fairly – Western Regional Minister

The Western Regional Minister, Hon. Joseph Nelson, has praised the media for its vital role in national development while calling on Ghana National Gas Company Limited to ensure fair distribution of its Corporate Social Responsibility projects.

The Minister was speaking at a media soiree organised by Ghana Gas at the Alisa Hotel in Accra.

According to him, despite the rise of social media, the mainstream media remains the most credible source of information for the public.

“You carry a heavy burden of having to share information with the public every day. We depend on you for everything that we know. Today we have competition from social media, but the mainstream media is still the place where credible information is channeled,” he stated.

He commended journalists for their dedication and urged them to continue serving the nation.

Hon. Nelson, speaking as the host Minister for Ghana Gas operations, said he is proud of the reforms taking place in the company.

He however expressed concern about how the company’s CSR projects were distributed in the past, which he said disadvantaged the host region.

“I am interested in the CSR projects that come to the Western Region. In the past, we heard how projects were distributed to the disadvantage of the host region. I believe this time that is being corrected,” he said.

He added, “Ghana Gas is a national asset, so we are not saying everything must come to us. It must be equitable. That is what the people will always ask for.”
