Abofour Health Center Intensifies School Mental Health, Drug Abuse And Teenage Pregnancy Awareness Campaign In Offinso South
The Psychiatric Mental Health Unit of Abofour Health Center has continued its School Mental Health, Drug Abuse, Teenage Pregnancy and Abortion Awareness Campaign with an engagement at Anhwerekrom M/A School in the Offinso South Municipality.
The campaign, which is being rolled out from September to December 2026, seeks to educate students across the municipality on critical health and social issues affecting young people.
The team’s visit to Anhwerekrom M/A School was described as exciting and impactful, as students were equipped with essential knowledge on mental health, drug and substance abuse, and teenage pregnancy.
During the session, students had the opportunity to ask questions, express their concerns and seek clarifications on the topics discussed, making the engagement highly interactive, informative and meaningful.
Speaking about the initiative, the unit said its mission is to reach every student within Offinso South and beyond, empowering young people with knowledge and skills to make informed decisions, protect their mental well-being, avoid substance abuse and build a brighter future.
“We believe that education is a powerful tool for prevention. By creating awareness today, we can inspire hope, promote healthier choices, and help shape a generation that is informed, responsible, and mentally healthy,” the team noted.
The Psychiatric Mental Health Unit reiterated its commitment to breaking the stigma surrounding mental health and promoting healthy lifestyles among the youth.
The campaign is under the theme: “Raising Awareness, Inspiring Hope,” with mantras including “Mental Health, Total Health” and “Mental Health First Aid for All.”
The Unit emphasized that it makes no distinction in nationality or creed, stating that the only requirement is that people need help, and called on stakeholders, schools and parents to join efforts to protect young people and build a healthier community.
