Italian Embassy Awards Full Scholarship to Aduman SHS Student Who Went Viral After Tablet Incident

Aduman, Ghana — The student who captured national attention after breaking down in tears over a stolen tablet has received a life-changing opportunity.

Benjamin, a student of Aduman Senior High School who went viral earlier this year after being filmed crying over his stolen tablet while some classmates mocked him, has been awarded a full scholarship by the Italian Embassy in Ghana for the next academic year.

The embassy confirmed the award will cover his tuition and related expenses through the 2026/2027 school year.

In a second development tied to the scholarship, Benjamin will also travel to Juventus in Italy.

Former Ghana Black Stars midfielder and Juventus player Kwadwo Asamoah will personally mentor and coach him during the program.

The gesture aims to support both his academic progress and his interest in football, giving him exposure to professional training structures in Italy.

The video of Benjamin’s emotional moment sparked widespread discussion online about empathy, bullying, and support for students in public schools.

Since then, several individuals and organizations have reached out with offers of assistance.

No official date for his travel to Italy has been announced yet. The Italian Embassy said more details on the program will be released in the coming weeks.
