Two-Day-Old Baby Found Abandoned by Roadside at Asuotwene

Asuotwene, E/R -A newborn baby believed to be two days old has been found abandoned in a bush along the Adeiso-Asamankese road at Asuotwene, near Adeiso in the Upper West Akim District of the Eastern Region.

According to preliminary information, the baby was discovered alive, wrapped in a white linen cloth, dumped by the roadside.

Sources indicate that the mother of the child is not known to be a resident of the community.

The Assembly Member for the area has since taken custody of the baby and transported the infant to the Nsawam Government Hospital for medical care and assessment, pending further action by the police.

Police are expected to commence investigations to trace the mother and establish the circumstances surrounding the abandonment.
