By Dominic Duut – Offinso North

The Member of Parliament for Offinso North, Hon. Dr. Fred Kyei Asamoah, has fulfilled his promise to extend electricity to communities in the constituency that have been without power for years.

Even though his party, the New Patriotic Party (NPP), is not in power, the MP has managed to lobby for eight transformers to electrify deprived communities.

This was disclosed by the NPP Constituency Chairman, Hon. Mogma Johnson, who represented the MP at a short ceremony to hand over the transformers.

According to Chairman Johnson, five out of the eight transformers have already been delivered and are ready for installation.

The beneficiary communities are Amponsakrom, Gyamankrom, Dwendabi, Papasi, Apatam, Afrancho Enterprise, Bobra and Akrofoa.

He explained that work will begin immediately to fix the transformers and connect the communities to the national grid within the shortest possible time.

“We are fulfilling our promises to the citizens even without our party being in power. The Hon. MP promised to electrify these communities and by so doing he has been able to lobby for eight transformers. As it stands, five have been delivered for fixing,” Chairman Johnson said.

He added that access to electricity will boost education, help pupils to learn harder, improve security and enhance economic activities in the communities.

He assured the remaining communities whose transformers are yet to arrive that they will be delivered soon and urged residents to exercise patience and continue to support the MP.

Residents of the beneficiary communities expressed their excitement and gratitude to Hon. Dr. Fred Kyei Asamoah for the intervention, describing it as a major relief that will transform their lives.
