Too Many Guns at Demo” – NPP Calls on IGP to Cut Armed Police Numbers
Preparations are complete for the New Patriotic Party’s demonstration scheduled for today. Security remains tight, with more than 600 police officers currently deployed to maintain order and provide protection for demonstrators.
Speaking on the development, Paul Anoh, the Ashanti Regional Communications Officer of the NPP, expressed concern about the current political climate. According to him, it has become difficult for non-NDC members to speak freely.
“Now, if you are not NDC, it is very difficult for you to talk because all NPP members have been attacked and arrested when they speak,” Anoh stated.
Yaw Addo, the Western North Regional Communications Officer, said the demonstration is peaceful and not confrontational.
However, he expressed concern that the large number of armed police officers present is causing fear among people. He called on the Inspector General of Police to immediately reduce the number of officers carrying firearms.
