MAN CAUGHT WITH BAG FULL OF HUMAN BONES IN KASOA

Kasoa, Central Region -Panic gripped parts of Kasoa on Sunday after a young man was apprehended by residents for allegedly carrying a bag containing what appeared to be human bones.

According to eyewitnesses, the suspect was spotted moving suspiciously in the area with a large travelling bag.

Upon being confronted by some residents, the bag was searched and found to contain skeletal remains believed to be human bones.

Videos and photos circulating on social media show the suspect surrounded by a crowd, with the contents of the bag displayed on the ground.

Residents are heard in the background expressing shock and anger.

The exact source of the bones is not yet known. Some residents allege the suspect exhumed them from a local cemetery, while others suspect a ritual-related motive.

These claims are yet to be verified by the police.

The suspect was reportedly subjected to mob action before he was rescued and handed over to the police.

Police in Kasoa are said to have taken custody of both the suspect and the bag containing the alleged bones.

Authorities have not yet issued an official statement, but sources indicate that investigations have commenced and the bones will be sent for forensic examination to determine whether they are human remains and their origin.

Residents are calling on the Ghana Police Service to expedite investigations and ensure justice is served.

Police have meanwhile cautioned the public against instant justice and urged anyone with relevant information to assist with investigations.
