Convert Idle Asempanaye Police Station to CHPS Compound or Teachers’ Bungalow

Convert Idle Asempanaye Police Station to CHPS Compound or Teachers’ Bungalow –

Asempanaye, Offinso North — A Broadcasting journalist Dominic Duut has made a public appeal to authorities to repurpose the unused Asempanaye Police Station, Appealing that the decaying structure is holding back local development while teachers and residents lack basic facilities.

Speaking on Trueligh Fm Offinso base radio, Dominic Duut said the police station has been abandoned for years, with the building and property left to rot.

Meanwhile, teachers posted to the area have nowhere to stay and are forced to commute long distances daily to teach and return home.

“It’s unacceptable that we have a facility sitting idle while teachers don’t have a place to sleep,” He said.

“ is Either we convert it into a health center for there’s no health center at Asempanaye or convert it to   teachers’ bungalow, or turn the police station into atleast CHPS compound to reduce too much congestion in the nearby hospitals like Nkenkensu, Akumadan and others and will also reduces unemployment in the community.

“The property is rotting unused, and it’s costing a lot. It delays the development of our communities.”

He directed the appeal to the Ashanti Regional Minister, the Minister of the Interior, the Inspector General of Police, The DCE for Offinso North, MP for Offinso North and the Offinsoman Traditional Council, urging them to intervene and support the coconversion.

Also he raised a safety concern about the road leading into the community. He called on authorities not to replace a barrier on the hills where he recounted scaped from accidents sometimes  ago when the barrier was in use, warning that if a vehicle suffers brake failure, the barrier could lead to casualties if replaced.

“The barrier is there for a reason. If you put it back, if one failed brake  we will have deaths on our hands,” he said.

The Asempanaye Police Station has remained non-operational for an extended period, according to residents. The community has repeatedly called for the structure to be reassigned to meet pressing needs in education or healthcare if mission  of the police station failed.

Dominic said he would continue to push the issue until a decision is made.
