Ashanti NPP Constituency Chairmen Announce Night Vigil in Honour of Chairman Wontumi
The Ashanti Regional Constituency Chairmen’s Caucus of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has announced a Night Vigil in honour of the Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi.

The vigil is scheduled for August 14, 2026, at the DMB Regional Office at Asokwa in Kumasi, on the eve of the Ashanti Regional elections.
This was contained in a press statement issued on July 27, 2026, and jointly signed by the Chairman of the Caucus, Kofi Acheampong, and Secretary, Frederick Agyemang Mensah.
According to the statement, the vigil is being organized to stand in solidarity with Chairman Wontumi, who the caucus says has suffered an injustice, and to honour what they described as his legacy of “unprecedented and illustrious leadership” as Ashanti Regional Chairman.
“It is also meant to send a clear signal, locally and internationally, that we will not stay silent,” the statement said.
The Caucus has called on all constituency executives, party faithful and well-wishers to join the vigil, assuring that the event will be “peaceful and disciplined throughout.”
The statement ended with: “God bless Chairman Wontumi. God bless the Ashanti Region.”
The announcement comes ahead of the party’s regional elections, with the DMB Regional Office expected to be the focal point of activities in the Ashanti Region, the NPP’s stronghold.
Efforts to get further details on the programme lineup for the vigil were unsuccessful as of press time.
