BREAKING NEWS: Immigration Officer killed his 60-Year-Old Nephew at Darso in Offinso North.

DARSO, OFFINSO NORTH  A quiet community in the Offinso North District of the Ashanti Region was thrown into a state of shock and panic on Sunday morning, August 23, 2026, after an immigration officer allegedly choked  and killed his nephew.

According to investigations lead by Dominic Duut of Oyerepa TV/Fm in Kumasi and head of NobleNews , the suspect has been identified as Officer Asare, believed to be in his early 30s, while the deceased has been identified as Nana Juju, believed to be in his early 60s.

Background

Preliminary information gathered indicates that Officer Asare, who was reportedly stationed elsewhere, had allegedly been dismissed from the Ghana Immigration Service over alleged drunkenness and was currently staying at Darso.

The ImmigrationOfficer, popularly known officerAsare, was according to residents, mentally challenged and had been threatening members of the community in recent days.

On Saturday, August 22, 2026, he reportedly threatened to kill his own daughter, who managed to escape.

How It Happened

In the early hours of this morning, Sunday, August 23, 2026, Immigration Officer is said to have attacked his nephew, NanaJuju, with a knife, choking him in and  kill him.

In the ensuing struggle, Officer Asare allegedly retrieved his pistol and was shooting.

After the incident, Officer Asare reportedly stormed the main Darso road firing indiscriminately. During the shooting, a bullet allegedly hit and punctured the tyre of a passing bus, causing panic among commuters and residents.

Police Intervention

The incident prompted residents to call for intervention from the Akumadan District Police Command.

According to eyewitnesses, there was an exchange of gunfire during the attempt to arrest him.

The police from the Offinso North District Police Command managed to overpower Officer Asare, shooting him in the leg before handcuffing him.

The body of the deceased, Nana Juju, has since been deposited at the Nkenkaasu Government Hospital mortuary for preservation and autopsy.

Officer Asare is currently in custody at the Akumadan District Police Command, where he is receiving treatment under police guard while investigations continue.

The Ghana Police Service is yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
