Ahinsan Camp Prison Appeals for Support for Fence Wall, Clinic, Drugs and Skills Training Equipment

The Ahinsan Camp Prison at Dompoasi in the Adansi North District of the Ashanti Region has appealed to the government, corporate organisations, philanthropists, benevolent individuals and the general public to support the facility with critical infrastructure, medical supplies and skills-training equipment.

Assistant Director of Prisons at the facility, Mr Martin Duah, said the prison needed support for the construction of a fence wall, completion and development of its clinic, provision of essential drugs and the acquisition of equipment for skills-training activities.

He made the appeal when Kumasi-based journalist, Mr Samuel Ofori Boateng, donated assorted items to the Ahinsan Camp Prison as part of activities marking his birthday.

Mr Duah said the facility had an ongoing self-help clinic project which required further support to enable it to provide improved healthcare services to inmates.

He also appealed for assistance towards the construction of a modern kitchen and the provision of machines for the prison’s tailoring centre, as well as equipment for palm-oil processing.

According to him, the provision of the needed facilities and equipment would improve the welfare of inmates while giving them opportunities to acquire practical skills that could support their reintegration into society after serving their sentences.

Mr Duah therefore called on individuals, organisations, corporate bodies and other stakeholders to support the prison’s development initiatives.

He expressed gratitude to Mr Ofori Boateng for the donation and assured him that the items would be put to their intended use for the benefit of the inmates.

Also speaking to the media,Mr Samuel Ofori Boateng said the donation formed part of his annual birthday celebration, through which he supports vulnerable people and institutions in need.

The items presented to the Ahinsan Camp Prison included bags of sachet water, soft drinks, bread, second-hand clothes, bags of rice, cooking oil, toilet rolls, washing powder, toothbrushes and liquid soap.

The donation also to the Bekwai Kwamang Nipa Hia Mmoa Orphanage Home included exercise books, pencils, erasers, pens among others.

Speaking to the media, Mr Ofori Boateng said the initiative was his way of giving back to society and supporting people who needed assistance.

He said his decision to support inmates and children at the orphanage was also inspired by biblical teachings that encouraged society to remember people in prison and care for vulnerable persons.

Mr Ofori Boateng pledged to continue supporting vulnerable groups, including prisoners and children in need, whenever he had the opportunity.

He urged the beneficiaries to ensure that the items donated were properly managed and used strictly for their intended purposes.

Meanwhile, the Founder and Leader of Nipa Hia Mmoa Orphanage Home, Mr Adade Emmanuel, commended Mr Ofori Boateng for his regular support to the home.

He expressed appreciation for the gesture and said the assistance had contributed to meeting some of the needs of the children.

Mr Adade Emmanuel assured the donor that the items donated to the orphanage would be used for their intended purposes and would directly benefit the children.
