Security Boost for Suame: MCE Frank Owusu Ansah Commissions Magazine Maakro Police Station
SUAME, A/R – The Suame Municipal Assembly has commissioned a new police station at Magazine Maakro to strengthen security and maintain law and order in one of Kumasi’s busiest commercial hubs.
The facility was officially commissioned on Friday, 21st August, 2026 by the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Suame, Hon. Frank Owusu Ansah.
Addressing journalists after the ceremony, Hon. Owusu Ansah thanked President John Dramani Mahama for prioritizing the development of the Suame Municipality.
He disclosed that the police station is part of a broader development agenda being executed by the Assembly. He mentioned an ongoing health centre project at Breman Nkontwima and a new school block at Kwapra, both nearing completion and set for commissioning soon.
The MCE appealed to residents and traders to cooperate with police personnel who will be deployed to the new station, noting that Maakro, which has evolved into a major market centre with brisk activities from morning till evening, needs enhanced police presence to protect lives and property.
In a show of political maturity, Mr. Patrick, the Suame Municipal Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) who represented the Member of Parliament for Suame, Hon. John Darko Esq., lauded the Assembly for completing the project.
He expressed satisfaction that a project initiated under the previous administration was not abandoned but continued and completed for the benefit of the people.
Renowned herbal practitioner and clergyman, Apostle Dr. Samuel Amagashie, who graced the occasion, delivered a strong message of civic responsibility.
He charged civilians to be law-abiding and desist from taking the law into their own hands.
He reminded them that the police are partners in development whose core mandate is to protect lives and ensure peace, adding that no community can thrive in an atmosphere of chaos.
To the police, Apostle Dr. Amagashie said their conduct at the new station will reflect on the entire Ghana Police Service.
He therefore urged officers who will be stationed there to work diligently, with integrity and professionalism, to bring honour to the service and not disgrace it.
