Mankessim Omanhen Calls For More Economic Relief In Mid-Year Budget Review.
The Omanhen of the Mankessim Traditional Area and President of the Mankessim Traditional Council, Osagyefo Amanfo Edu VI, has called on government to introduce more policies that will further ease the cost of living as Ghanaians await the presentation of the 2026 Mid-Year Budget Review.
The revered traditional ruler made the call during his Stool Purification ceremony held at the Pakesedo Events Centre in Mankessim in the Central Region.
According to Osagyefo Amanfo Edu VI, although he is yet to see the full details of the budget statement to be presented by the Minister for Finance, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, there are clear signs that Ghana’s economy has become more stable compared to previous years.
He observed that prices of food items and other essential commodities have remained relatively stable in recent months, a development he said has brought some relief to businesses and consumers.
The Omanhen attributed the positive trend to the stability of the Ghana Cedi against major foreign currencies and the sustained decline in inflation, which have contributed significantly to improving the country’s economic outlook.
He noted that the improved economic environment has enabled some employers, including himself, to increase salaries for workers.
“Some of my employees who were previously earning about GH¢1,800 now receive more than GH¢2,500 because the economy is a bit stable and business is improving,” he disclosed.
Osagyefo Amanfo Edu VI expressed optimism that the upcoming Mid-Year Budget Review will introduce additional measures to further reduce prices, support the growth of businesses and ultimately improve the living conditions of ordinary Ghanaians.
The Finance Minister is expected to present the 2026 Mid-Year Budget Review to Parliament on Thursday, where he will outline government’s assessment of the country’s economic performance and policy direction for the remainder of the fiscal year.
In a related development, Osagyefo Amanfo Edu VI has donated a public address system valued at GH¢30,000 to the Obrumankoma Jama Group in Mankessim.
The donation, he said, forms part of his commitment to promoting culture and supporting community development initiatives within the Traditional Area.
He stressed that preserving the rich cultural heritage of Mankessim remains one of his key priorities, pledging his continuous support for groups and initiatives that project the traditions and identity of the people.
The leadership of the Obrumankoma Jama Group expressed gratitude to the Omanhen for the gesture, describing it as timely and crucial to enhancing their cultural performances.
