Asuofua – Atwima Nwabiagya North
The Queen Mother of Asuofua in the Atwima Nwabiagya North District of the Ashanti Region, Nana Barnie Ahenkan, has made a passionate appeal to Ghanaians to place the advantages of the nation above its disadvantages by respecting rules, regulations and civic responsibilities.
According to the Asuofua Hemaa, Ghana has what it takes to develop like the foreign countries many young people travel to in search of greener pastures, but bad attitudes, poor sanitation and disregard for law and order continue to hold the country back.
Nana Barnie Ahenkan made the call on Nananom Mmere on promise tv/radio hosted by Nana Otiawere Frimpong Manso II, Akokofe
“The way we look for greener pastures in foreign countries is because of how they obeyed and respected their constitution and how they planned to be ruled.
Therefore we must also obey and respect our own rules and regulations,” she stated and bemoaned on growing indiscipline in Ghana
She noted that the rules abroad are no different from Ghana’s laws, but many citizens deliberately make it difficult to obey them locally, a situation she described as worrying and a major cause of the challenges the country faces today.
Nana Barnie Ahenkan further cautioned that negative attitudes, bad mentality and filth will destroy the nation if not checked.
“Our bad attitude will even kill us before our time without guns and any weapons before judgement day, because of bad mentality, dirtiness and bad attitudes,” she warned.
She therefore urged Ghanaians, especially the youth, to be disciplined, keep their surroundings clean, respect authority, and be patriotic in their dealings, adding that nation-building is a collective responsibility.
She called on traditional leaders, religious leaders, parents and teachers to join hands in instilling discipline and good morals in the younger generation to secure a better future for Ghana.
The Asuofua Hemaa concluded that if every citizen decides to do what is right, Ghana will be a better place where no one will have to risk their lives traveling through deserts and seas in search of a better life elsewhere.
