WESTLEY GIRLS AND STEM SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL OFFICIALLY OPENS ADMISSION IN DORMAA AHENKRO

Westley Girls and STEM Senior High School in Dormaa Ahenkro in the Bono Region has officially opened its doors for admission, marking a significant milestone in the expansion of girls’ education and STEM opportunities in the area.

The official opening and admission exercise took place today, Monday, September 28, 2026, bringing together Methodist Church leadership in the Dormaa Municipality, prospective students and their parents, as well as members of the teaching staff who are set to spearhead academic activities at the new institution.

The establishment of the school was facilitated with support from the former Health Minister and former Member of Parliament for Dormaa Central, Hon. Kwaku Agyemang-Manu, as part of efforts to expand access to quality education for young girls in the constituency and beyond.

Speaking to Odehyieba Nana Osei Sempremo of Adiyia 96.9 FM, the Head Pastor, Very Rev. Nicholas Afrifa, said today marks the official inauguration of the school and encouraged parents who are interested in securing admission for their wards to visit the school premises or the Westley Temple for further information and admission procedures.

He stressed that Methodist educational institutions are noted for academic excellence and discipline, assuring parents that the same standards would be upheld at Westley Girls and STEM Senior High School.

The Acting Headmistress of the school, Madam Francisca Ofori Kan, said the institution is primarily focused on providing quality educational training and opportunities for the girl child.

She noted that although the Bono Region has only a limited number of girls’ senior high schools, the establishment of Westley Girls and STEM Senior High School in Dormaa Ahenkro will provide another important avenue for girls to pursue secondary education, particularly in the area of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.

Madam Ofori Kan therefore appealed to parents across the region and beyond not to look elsewhere, but to consider Westley Girls and STEM Senior High School as a destination for the education and development of their daughters.

The Assistant Headmistress of the school, Hon. Ophilia Khadija, who is also the Assembly Member for Kyeremasu, also appealed to the general public to help spread the news about the establishment of the new school to attract prospective students.

According to her, the school is prepared to commence its academic activities, with academic work expected to begin next week.
