Catholic Archdiocese of Kumasi Mourns Priest and Nun

Kumasi— The Catholic Archdiocese of Kumasi has been thrown into mourning following the passing of Rev. Fr. John Paul Poku-Esie, a Diocesan Priest of Kumasi, and Sr. Mary Joachim Adu-Poku, IHM, who was working in Kumasi.

The two, who were devoted servants of the Church, have joined their ancestors after years of faithful service to God and humanity.

Rev. Fr. John Paul Poku-Esie was known for his humility, deep spirituality and dedication to pastoral work. Since his ordination, he served in various parishes within the Archdiocese, winning admiration for his inspiring homilies, pastoral care and commitment to evangelization.

Sr. Mary Joachim Adu-Poku, IHM, a member of the Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, similarly dedicated her life to the service of the Church through education, pastoral ministry and works of charity, living out the charism of her congregation with joy and sacrifice.

Family sources and Church authorities have confirmed their passing, describing it as a great loss not only to their family but to the entire Catholic Church in Kumasi and beyond.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by the family and the Archdiocese in due course.
