Techiman MCE Commissions Six-Unit Classroom Block at Fiaso M/A Basic School

Fiaso, Bono East Region – As part of efforts to enhance access to quality education in the Techiman Municipality, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Adjei Mensah, has commissioned a six-unit classroom block with ancillary facilities at the Fiaso M/A Basic School.

The new edifice, which is expected to end the era of learning under trees and ease congestion in the school, was officially handed over at a ceremony attended by municipal officials, education directors, traditional leaders, teachers, parents, and excited pupils.

Speaking to the media after the commissioning, Hon. Adjei Mensah disclosed that due to the growing population of the school, some children had resorted to learning under trees, a situation which was affecting effective teaching and learning.

He said the construction of the classroom block forms part of the government’s commitment to providing quality and inclusive education for all Ghanaian children, regardless of their location.

According to the MCE, the Techiman Municipal Assembly remains committed to bridging the infrastructure gap in the education sector and assured that more educational projects are underway across the municipality to improve learning conditions.

He urged pupils, teachers, and community leaders to adopt a culture of maintenance and take proper care of the facility to ensure it serves its intended purpose for many years.

Hon. Adjei Mensah also used the occasion to highlight other ongoing educational infrastructure projects being executed in some schools within the municipality, stressing that education remains a top priority of the Assembly.

On her part, the Headmistress of Fiaso M/A Basic School C, Madam Hannah Yeboah, who spoke on behalf of the other beneficiary schools, expressed profound gratitude to the MCE and the Municipal Assembly for coming to the aid of the schools.

She described the new classroom block as timely and a great relief to teachers and pupils, noting that it will significantly improve the teaching and learning environment.

Madam Yeboah further used the opportunity to advise parents, guardians, and caretakers to prioritize their children’s education and support teachers in shaping the future of the pupils.

The commissioning of the classroom block has been met with excitement among residents of Fiaso, who say it will not only improve academic performance but also motivate more children to stay in school.
