“Preach to your ‘hypocrite’ friend Shatta Wale first” — DJ Slim blasts Sarkodie
Ghanaian media personality and broadcaster Andy Kobina Annan, popularly known as DJ Slim, has doubled down on his support for Stonebwoy amid the ongoing social media tension involving award-winning rapper Michael Owusu Addo, known professionally as Sarkodie, and dancehall star Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jr., popularly called Shatta Wale.
DJ Slim faced backlash from fans of both Sarkodie and Shatta Wale after defending Stonebwoy’s recent cryptic remarks, which many interpreted as a subtle dig at Sarkodie’s relationship with the dancehall musician.
Speaking on his YouTube platform, the veteran broadcaster argued that Sarkodie’s recent message about peace, unity, and forgiveness within the music industry appeared contradictory because of his close association with Shatta Wale, whom he described as one of the most controversial figures in Ghanaian music history.
“If Sarkodie is preaching peace and forgiveness, he should start with the person standing next to him, Shatta Wale. Because in the history of Ghanaian music, no artiste is more divisive than Shatta Wale,” DJ Slim stated.
He also referenced the long-standing tension between Shatta Wale and fast-rising rapper Paul Amankwah, popularly known as Kweku Smoke, recalling the dancehall artiste’s public remarks about wanting to destroy the young rapper’s career.
“He said openly that he was going to kill the young boy’s career. If he had succeeded, would he stand on that platform to promote his own show?” he questioned.
DJ Slim further defended Stonebwoy’s now-viral social media post, which appeared to suggest that his relationship with Sarkodie was built more on convenience than genuine friendship. According to the broadcaster, Stonebwoy’s comments were not without merit.
“So if Stonebwoy tweets that he and Sarkodie are practising a convenient friendship, is he not making a point?” he asked.
The remarks have since triggered heated debate online, with fans divided over DJ Slim’s comments.
While some praised him for speaking openly, others accused him of escalating tensions among some of Ghana’s biggest music stars.
The latest controversy adds another chapter to the complicated relationships and rivalries that continue to shape conversations within Ghana’s entertainment industry.
