Man Rushed to Korle Bu After Motorcycle Key Lodged in Skull During Okada Fight at Jasikan

A man is receiving specialist treatment at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra after a motorcycle ignition key was reportedly lodged in his skull during a fight between two commercial motorcycle riders at Jasikan in the Oti Region.

The incident is said to have occurred on Wednesday when two commercial motorcyclists, popularly known as Okada riders, engaged in a physical altercation over a passenger.

According to preliminary reports, the victim, whose identity has not yet been officially disclosed, attempted to intervene to separate the two riders when he sustained the severe head injury.

Eyewitnesses say in the course of the struggle, one of the riders allegedly used his motorcycle key as a weapon, stabbing the peacemaker in the head, leaving the key lodged in his skull.

The victim was initially rushed to a nearby health facility in Jasikan for emergency care but was later referred to the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital for specialist care due to the critical nature of the injury.

His current condition is not yet known, though hospital sources confirm he is under specialist care.

Police in Jasikan are yet to officially comment on the matter, but residents say investigations have commenced and efforts are underway to apprehend the riders involved, who reportedly fled the scene after the incident.

The incident has reignited concerns over the frequent clashes among commercial motorcycle riders over passengers, particularly in busy transport hubs in the area.
