Parents Should Have “Third Eyes” on Their Children – AGA School Director

The Executive Director of AngloGold Ashanti (AGA) School in Obuasi, Mr. Simon Atta Kato, has charged parents to be more vigilant in monitoring the activities of their children to protect them from negative societal influences.

He made the call at the 11th Graduation Ceremony of the AGA School in Obuasi, where he stressed the need for parents, especially those with children in basic schools, to pay critical attention to their movements and behaviour.

Mr. Atta Kato noted that most pupils at the basic level are below 18 years and are at a vulnerable stage of their development.

He warned that allowing them to attend nightclubs and late-night social programmes exposes them to harmful activities that could derail their future.

“Parents should have third eyes on their children,” he emphasized.

According to him, raising responsible and disciplined children should not be left to teachers alone, but requires active and consistent parental supervision at home.

He urged parents to collaborate effectively with school authorities in instilling discipline, integrity and good moral values in students, stressing that proper parental guidance remains fundamental to both academic excellence and personal development.

Meanwhile, the Assistant Head Boy of the school, Godlove Asare, also advised graduands awaiting their examination results to be mindful of their conduct during the waiting period.

He cautioned his colleagues against drug abuse, excessive alcohol consumption and other social vices that could jeopardize their aspirations and ruin their future.

The colourful 11th Graduation Ceremony brought together management and staff of AGA School, parents, students, old students and invited guests to celebrate the achievements of the graduating class.

The graduands were encouraged to uphold the core values of discipline, integrity and excellence inculcated in them as they transition to the next stage of their academic journey.
