Abuakwa North MP Honours Outstanding Teachers at Maiden Excellence Awards, Reaffirms Commitment to Quality Education
The Member of Parliament for Abuakwa North Constituency, Hon. Nana Ampaw Kwame Addo Frempong, has honoured outstanding teaching and non-teaching staff across the municipality at the maiden edition of the 2026 Member of Parliament’s Excellence Awards.
The colourful ceremony was held at the New Leaders Hotel in Akyem Tafo and brought together education stakeholders, traditional leaders, teachers, and pupils from across the municipality.
The awards recognised hardworking teachers and education workers from both public and private schools for their dedication, professionalism and outstanding contributions to the development of education in Abuakwa North.
Winners were presented with prizes including refrigerators, television sets, home appliances, plaques, certificates and other attractive packages.
Addressing participants at the ceremony, Hon. Ampaw Kwame Addo Frempong said the initiative was introduced to appreciate the immense sacrifices of teachers, boost their morale and inspire greater commitment to quality education delivery.
According to him, teachers remain the backbone of national development and deserve to be celebrated for shaping the future of children despite the challenges they face.
He noted that the Excellence Awards complement other education-focused interventions rolled out by his office, including the MP’s Reading Festival, aimed at improving literacy and learning outcomes among pupils in the constituency.
The MP reaffirmed his commitment to working closely with the Ghana Education Service, traditional authorities and other stakeholders to raise educational standards in Abuakwa North.
On her part, the Eastern Regional Director of Education, Dr. Mrs. Ivy Asantewaa Owusu, commended the MP for the initiative, describing it as the first of its kind in the municipality.
She said recognising excellence among teachers would not only motivate awardees but also inspire improved teaching and learning across schools, contributing significantly to quality education.
She encouraged the Member of Parliament to sustain the programme to make it an annual feature on the education calendar of the municipality.
The ceremony also featured the presentation of citations of appreciation to distinguished traditional rulers and education administrators for their immense contributions to education and community development in Abuakwa North.
Some of the award winners who spoke with Oyerepa TV/FM Correspondent, George Botha, expressed profound gratitude to the Member of Parliament for recognising their dedication and hard work.
They described the awards as a great source of motivation and pledged to continue giving their best to improve teaching and learning outcomes in the constituency.
