“OUR PARTY IS IN TRIBULATION AND NEEDS A LEADER LIKE ME” – KOKOFU.

Kumasi– NPP Ashanti Regional Chairmanship aspirant, Mr. Henry Kwabena Kokofu, says the New Patriotic Party is going through a period of tribulation and requires a leader with proven experience to steer its rebuilding efforts.

NPP Ashanti Regional Chairmanship aspirant Henry Kwabena Kokofu says the party needs experienced leadership to drive its rebuilding agenda after 2024 defeat

Speaking to the media, Mr. Kokofu stated that the position of Regional Chairman demands someone who understands both party structures and the demands of political communication.

“I believe the party is in tribulation and needs a leader who can drive its rebuilding agenda,” he said. “The position of Regional Chairman requires someone with proven leadership experience.”

He noted that he has held several positions in the past, which he believes qualifies him for the role.

Mr. Kokofu also criticized the party’s 2024 campaign strategy, arguing that the NPP failed to properly market its flagbearer, which allowed the National Democratic Congress to mislead Ghanaians ahead of the elections.

“With my background in communication, I will ensure the party’s candidate is sold effectively to the electorate,” he said, adding that he would work to prevent a repeat of the messaging gaps seen in 2024.

He further warned against what he described as an emerging “culture of silence” under the NDC government, pledging that the NPP would continue to speak up and resist it.

On the performance of the current administration, Mr. Kokofu gave the NDC government a score of 3 out of 10, arguing that it has done little since assuming office.

“When you look at the economy under the NDC administration, I will rate them 3 out of 10. They have done nothing since assuming office,” he said.

Mr. Kokofu is one of several aspirants contesting for the Ashanti Regional Chairmanship position ahead of the NPP’s internal elections.
