Story by Dominic Duut
Akumadan – One person has been confirmed stable while another is receiving treatment following a road accident in Akumadan yesterday, which authorities attribute to overspeeding.
According to Dr. Freeman of Nkenkensu Government Hospital, the driver involved in the crash survived but sustained head injuries. He said the driver is currently stable and undergoing further treatment at the facility.
The other passenger, who also survived, suffered a serious fracture to the legs. Dr. Freeman confirmed that the patient has requested to be discharged so he can be transferred to Garu for traditional treatment, where we believed to be a native of Garu.
Local authorities have used the incident to caution motorists against reckless and unlawful driving on the roads. They urged drivers to observe speed limits and prioritize safety to prevent similar crashes.
The accident adds to growing concerns over road safety in the area, with overspeeding cited as a leading cause of recent incidents.
