Dr. Fred Kyei Asamoah Leads Minority Call for Sammy Gyamfi to Apologise Over Extortion Claim Against Afenyo-Marking

The Member of Parliament for Offinso North, Dr. Fred Kyei Asamoah, has joined the Minority Caucus in demanding an unqualified public apology and retraction from the CEO of the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod), Sammy Gyamfi, over his extortion allegation against Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin.

Speaking to the media, Dr. Asamoah said the allegation is serious and potentially criminal, and should be referred to the appropriate authorities for thorough investigation.

According to him, if such claims are proven to be false, they are capable of severely damaging the reputation of a public official and must not be taken lightly.

Dr. Asamoah stated that the Minority Caucus has full confidence in its leader and believes Alexander Afenyo-Markin is innocent of the extortion claims levelled against him.

He was supported by the MP for Kwadaso, Prof. Kingsley Nyarko, who described the allegation as unacceptable and urged Mr. Gyamfi to show restraint and respect.

The Minority MPs are therefore insisting that the GoldBod CEO publicly withdraw the allegation and render an unqualified apology to the Minority Leader.
