Offinso North Students Tour Parliament in Educational Trip Sponsored by MP Dr. Fred Kyei Asamoah.

Initiative aimed at inspiring future leaders through firsthand exposure to Ghana’s democracy
Accra -Ghana A group of students from the Offinso North Constituency in the Ashanti Region has embarked on an educational tour of the Parliament of Ghana, in a program proudly sponsored by their Member of Parliament,Hon. Dr. Fred Kyei Asamoah.
The tour, which forms part of the MP’s broader educational empowerment agenda for the constituency, gave the students a rare opportunity to witness parliamentary proceedings, interact with legislators, and learn about the workings of Ghana’s democratic institutions.
The students, drawn from selected Junior and Senior High Schools within Offinso North, were taken through the history of Ghana’s Parliament, the lawmaking process, and the roles of the Speaker, Majority and Minority caucuses, and parliamentary committees. They also observed a live sitting on the floor of Parliament.
Speaking on the initiative, Hon. Dr. Fred Kyei Asamoah said the program is designed to demystify governance and ignite leadership ambition among young people at the grassroots.
“Development does not start from Accra or the bigger towns, but from the polling stations, electoral areas, and other lower communities.
We must prepare our youth not just to celebrate democracy, but to participate in it and lead it,” the MP stated.
“This tour is to show our students that Parliament is not far from them. One of them can be here tomorrow as an MP, a Clerk, or even Speaker, if they stay focused and disciplined.”
Dr. Kyei Asamoah, who is the Chairman of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Chieftaincy, Culture and Religious Affairs and a former Director-General of the Commission for TVET, has made education a cornerstone of his tenure.
His interventions include the Anidaso Students Assistantship Program (ASAP) which provides at least GHS 2,000 annually to tertiary students, provision of maths sets and feeding support for BECE candidates, free vacation classes, and yearly educational tours to Parliament and other key national institutions in Accra.
Teachers and students who participated in the tour expressed profound gratitude to the MP, describing the experience as eye-opening and motivational.
One student remarked, “I have only seen Parliament on TV. Being here today has inspired me to study hard and one day serve Ghana as a leader.”
The tour ended with a group photograph in the precincts of Parliament and words of encouragement from Hon. Dr. Asamoah, who urged the students to be ambassadors of discipline, patriotism, and academic excellence when they return to their communities.
The educational tour is expected to be institutionalized as an annual program to benefit more students across the Offinso North District.
