SHS Placements & Admissions: NCPTA blows alarm on illegal prospectus sales: don’t pay a pesewa to EduPack PGL – Buy from the open market

The National Council of Parents-Teachers Associations, Ghana (NCPTA) has blown alarm on illegal prospectus sales urging Parents and Guardians not to pay a pesewa to EduPack PGL but rather buy from the open market.

The Ministry of Education last Friday night released the 2026 senior high school placement for qualified Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) graduates with 565,000 out of the total 620,000 candidates who wrote the 2026 BECE already placed in various Senior High and T-VET Schools and expected to report in the coming weeks.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with LinkNews in Techiman on Thursday morning, Gapson Kofi Raphael the General Secretary of NCPTA said the association has watched with growing alarm the orchestrated attempt by a private company calling itself EduPack PGL (Prospectus Ghana Limited) to hold Ghanaian parents to ransom.

They hide behind the respected name of the Ghana Education Service (GES), circulating messages via SMS, WhatsApp and other platforms, directing innocent First Year Parents to pay GHS 1,617.00 for Metal Trunk/Suitcase, Plastic Chop Box, Macintosh Mattress and Macintosh Pillow, to be collected on SHS campuses.

Mr. Gapson stated emphatically that this is deception, extortion and un-Ghanaian therefore instructing all Ghanaian parents not to pay any money or buy any item from EduPack PGL.

He continued that, EduPack PGL (Prospectus Ghana Limited) are not known within the NCPTA structure, have never been approved by us, and do not speak for parents.

“Every parent retains the full and unqualified liberty to purchase prospectus items on the open market as has always been the practice, forcing Parents to buy from one source at a fixed price on campus is illegal commercialization of school admission.

Finally, the NCPTA highly commended GES for its bold disclaimer and for distancing itself from this unholy practice but a disclaimer alone is not enough, urging GES to take immediate legal action against EduPack PGL and any entity using the GES logo to defraud parents.
