MzGee Blows Hot: “McBrown Left Me to Be Attacked”

Ghanaian media personality Gloria Akpene Nyarku, popularly known as MzGee, has spoken about how her experience as the host of United Showbiz caused her emotional and mental trauma.

She also claimed that celebrated Ghanaian actress and media personality, Nana Ama McBrown remained silent and betrayed her while she was being attacked by the public.

In an interview, MzGee stated that fans of Nana Ama McBrown, whose real name is Felicity Ama Agyemang, attacked her because they believed she was responsible for McBrown’s removal as host of United Showbiz. However, according to MzGee, that was not the case.

She explained that before she started hosting the show, she contacted McBrown to seek for her blessings, which McBrown gave her.

She said: “People felt that I contributed to their idol being removed from the show. And I want to say this on record today.

Look, when I was told I was going to host United Showbiz, one of the first things I did was send her a DM.

If McBrown will be truthful, I sent her a text. I said, ‘Big sis, I’m told you would not be hosting this show again. I will be the one hosting it, so I want to seek your blessings before starting the show.’”

MzGee further accused McBrown of betraying her amid the public backlash and trolling. According to her, since she had shown respect by seeking McBrown’s blessings before taking over the role, she expected McBrown to defend her publicly during the controversy.

She explained that McBrown could have clarified that the issue was between her and the management of the show, and not MzGee’s fault.

MzGee added that if she had not informed McBrown beforehand, the situation would not have hurt her as much.

She stated: “I’m saying this on record. While people were insulting and attacking me, I expected McBrown to speak up for me.

I expected that because I gave her that reverence. It hurt me deeply. If I had not respected her enough to tell her before starting the show, I wouldn’t have been hurt like that. But I did, and she gave me her blessings, so I expected her to defend me when people were insulting me.

At least, she could have said, ‘This girl is not the problem. If you have a problem with management, she is not the reason I left the show.’

But you left me out there for people to rubbish me and accuse me of causing your dismissal.”

Speaking about the impact of the experience, MzGee said she learned valuable lessons from hosting United Showbiz and would never take those experiences for granted.

“I learned a lot of lessons from hosting United Showbiz. I will never take them for granted,” she said.

The feud between MzGee and Nana Ama McBrown reportedly began in 2023 when MzGee replaced McBrown as the host of United Showbiz.

MzGee later ignored a congratulatory comment from McBrown on social media, which fueled speculation and controversy behind the scenes.

This led many people to believe that MzGee had played a role in McBrown’s removal from the show.

Since then, McBrown has remained silent on the matter, while MzGee continues to speak openly about her emotional experience.
