Kwadaso Chief Stripped of Stool Over Land Disputes and Alleged Misconduct

The traditional leadership structure in Kwadaso has been shaken following the destoolment of the area’s Odikro, Nana Asare Bediako II, over allegations of misconduct and abuse of authority.

The decision was taken by the Bantama Traditional Council under the leadership of Baffour Owusu Amankwatia VI, who ordered the chief’s removal during a customary ceremony held at the Kwadaso Palace on Monday evening, April 13, 2026.

Representing the Bantama-hene , Nana Kofi Owusu carried out the destoolment rites, which included the slaughtering of a ram to symbolise the formal removal of the chief from office in accordance with tradition.

Sources within the council indicate that the action follows a series of complaints levelled against the now former Odikro. Key among them were allegations of failing to uphold his responsibilities, engaging in the unauthorized sale of lands particularly in Sofoline and actions considered to have undermined the authority of the Bantama Traditional Council.

Addressing the media, the Aduana Abusuapanin, Nana Akwasi Abu, outlined what he described as a consistent pattern of misconduct, insisting that the traditional council had no option but to invoke customary sanctions to protect the integrity of the stool.

Despite the weight of the decision, sections of the royal family have expressed calm acceptance of the outcome, noting their respect for the authority and processes of the traditional council.

The development has since triggered widespread reactions across Kwadaso, with residents and community members debating the implications of the sudden change in leadership and its potential impact on local governance and land administration.
