KDS Residents Cry Foul Over Unhealthy and Unhygienic Dumping Site

Residents of KDS, a street in Dormaa Ahenkro have raised concerns over what they describe as an unhealthy and unhygienic dumping site in the area, calling for urgent measures to improve waste management.

According to the residents, the waste containers at the site often become full and remain unattended for almost three months before they are emptied, creating an unhealthy environment for residents.

They said the situation has led to an increase in mosquitoes around the area, resulting in frequent mosquito bites and cases of malaria among some residents.

The residents also noted that people from nearby streets, including ABB and AB, as well as other surrounding areas, come to dispose of their refuse at the KDS dumping site. They said this contributes to the containers filling up only a few days after they have been emptied.

They have therefore appealed to the Assembly Member for the area to put measures in place to prevent delays in the removal of refuse by Zoomlion and ensure that the containers are emptied regularly.

The residents believe prompt and consistent waste collection will help improve sanitation and protect them from diseases associated with poor waste management.
