Samuel Laari Yalkwa to Contest NDC Garu Constituency Executive Member Position; Pledges to be “Beacon of Change”.

GARU, U/E -Former National President of the Bimoba Students Union (BISU), Mr. Samuel Laari Yalkwa, has declared his intention to contest for Executive Member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Garu Constituency.

Popularly known as SLY, Mr. Yalkwa announced his decision in a statement addressed to party comrades, delegates, friends and well-wishers.

He said the decision follows extensive consultations and careful reflection on the aspirations of the people and the future of the party in Garu.

Mr. Yalkwa is banking on his track record in student and youth leadership to anchor his candidacy.

He served as National President of BISU from 2018 to 2021. While at the University of Education, Winneba, he held positions as Chief Justice of the Association of Economics Students (AES) and Public Relations Officer of the Students Legal Society.

After university, he served as Public Relations Officer of the National Service Personnel Association (NASPA) for Bawku West District from 2021 to 2022.

Within the same period, he also served as Youth Member of Parliament for Tempane Constituency under the Youth Module Parliament of the Youth Empowerment Consortium.

According to him, his years of leadership have reinforced his belief that effective leadership must be rooted in service, responsibility and representation.

“Based on these experiences, I have developed a strong conviction that leadership must be guided by service, responsibility, and effective representation.

I am committed to being accessible and responsive,” he stated.

Mr. Yalkwa said he is presenting himself as a reliable, accessible and progressive voice to serve as a “Beacon of Change” at the constituency level.

He pledged to work collaboratively with party executives, delegates and grassroots members to build a stronger NDC in Garu and secure victory in the 2028 general elections.

“This is a collective journey and responsibility, and I humbly seek the support and partnership of all comrades, delegates, friends, and well-wishers as we work together for renewed commitment and positive change.

The journey has begun,” he added.

The upcoming NDC constituency executive elections in Garu are expected to be keenly contested as the party repositions to consolidate its strength in the Upper East Region ahead of the 2028 polls.
