The Krontihene of Akokofe in the Bosomtwe District of the Ashanti Region, Nana Otiawere Frimpong Manso II, has cautioned the youth to put an immediate stop to the recording and sharing of nude videos and explicit pictures.

According to the respected traditional leader, the act is not only disgraceful but also a clear sign of bad upbringing.

Addressing the youth at Ghana, Nana Otiawere Frimpong Manso II said it is highly improper and uncultured for young men and women to snap their private parts and send to their boyfriends and girlfriends.

He stressed that such conduct does not add any value to a relationship.

“Any mannered and well-cultured child will not do such a thing. Snapping your private parts to your boyfriend or girlfriend is foolishness. It doesn’t add anything valuable to the relationship,” he warned.

The Akokofe Krontihene expressed worry over the growing trend where some youth have normalized the exchange of sex videos and nude photos on social media platforms like WhatsApp, Snapchat and Telegram.

He noted that this immoral behaviour often leads to blackmail, emotional trauma, broken futures and public embarrassment when the videos eventually leak.

Nana Frimpong Manso II therefore advised the youth to uphold Ghanaian cultural values of decency, modesty and self-respect, adding that a serious and lasting relationship is built on respect and good character, not nudity.

He called on parents, teachers, religious leaders and opinion leaders to join forces to counsel the youth against sexual immorality and the abuse of social media.

He further cautioned that persons caught in such acts which bring the name  into disrepute sould face customary sanctions, apart from facing the full rigours of the law.

He urged the youth to rather channel their energies into education, vocational skills and productive ventures that will secure their future
