E/R: Ewe Queen Mother Steps In to Help Ati Amanfrom Bridge Crisis

Ati Amanfrom, Eastern Region– The Ewe Queen Mother of Ati Amanfrom, Nanahemaa Alorgba, has pledged to intervene in the community’s long-standing bridge crisis after learning about the situation on Oyerepa TV.

The intervention comes in response to mounting concerns over the dilapidated bridge, which residents say has become a daily hazard. School children are particularly affected, forced to take lengthy detours to reach school due to the unsafe crossing.

Nanahemaa Alorgba said she was moved to act after seeing the report and believes her experience can help speed up a solution. She previously assisted the Ati Ahenbronom electoral area with a similar bridge issue.

“I cannot sit unconcerned when the safety of my people, especially the children, is at risk,” she stated. The Queen Mother added that she will consult a senior official at the Ghana Highways Authority’s Bridge Maintenance Unit to facilitate repairs and push the matter up the administrative ladder.

Residents have welcomed the move, praising her prompt response. Many say the lack of a safe bridge has disrupted movement, trade, and education in the area for years.

Assembly Member for the area, Hon. Sampson Addo Koranteng, confirmed that he and his team have already begun fundraising for the project. He appealed to civil society organizations, private individuals, and NGOs to contribute toward getting the bridge fixed.

“We have started mobilizing resources locally, but the scale of the work requires broader support,” Hon. Koranteng said. “Nanahemaa’s involvement gives us hope that this will finally be resolved.”

The Ati Amanfrom bridge has been on the community’s priority list for years, with repeated calls to authorities yielding little action. With the Queen Mother’s backing, residents are optimistic that repairs will begin soon.
