AKYEM ASUBOA: ONE ARRESTED, OTHERS ON THE RUN FOR COCOA ON TRUCK THEFT
The Akim Oda division of the police in the Eastern Region on Wednesday 10th July, 2026 night has apprehended Kwasi Brako, a.k.a “Anas,” while other suspects remain at large.
They are accused of stealing cocoa beans from a truck bearing the registration number AS 3650-S at Akyem Asuboa in the Asene Manso Akroso district of the Eastern Region.
The truck, which was transporting the cocoa from Akyem Oda to the Tema port for international shipment, had temporarily halted at Akyem Asuboa and the suspect and his team took advantage to steal some of the cocoa beans in sacks.
According to the information obtained, the truck driver parked the vehicle at Akyem Asuboa to take a rest and address a mechanical issue.
Meanwhile, Anas and his associates were in the vicinity with the intention of stealing some of the cocoa beans stored in bags that night.
The FPU police patrol team from the Akim Oda Police Divisional Headquarters, upon witnessing the unlawful offloading of the cocoa beans from the parked truck, approached the scene.
However, Anas and his accomplices noticed the officers and fled the area.
The police patrol team was able to ascertain the suspects’ hideouts and subsequently conducted a night operation, successfully apprehending Anas after a struggle with the officers, while the others managed to evade capture.
The suspect, Kwasi Brako alias “Anas” has been sent to the Akyem Oda government hospital for treatment after sustaining some injuries following his earlier struggle in attempt to resist arrest by the police personnel while the police continue with investigation to apprehend the other suspect who are on the run.
