Abofour to Observe National Sanitation Day on May 22 as Offinso Assembly Announces Town-Wide Clean-Up.

OFFINSO, Ashanti Region— The Offinso Municipal Assembly has announced that Abofour will host the next National Sanitation Day on Friday, May 22, 2026, in line with the President’s directive for monthly nationwide clean-up exercises.

According to the Office of the Offinso Municipal Assembly, the exercise will run from 6:00 am to 10:00 am. The assembly said it initiative aims to promote sound environmental practices across the country.

All Assembly members in Abofour have been urged to inform their electorates through local and Community Information Centers and encourage active participation. Faith-based organizations have also been asked to mobilize congregants to take part.

To allow for the clean-up, all stores within Abofour Township are to remain closed until 10:00 am on the day.

National Sanitation Day is observed monthly across Ghana to improve public hygiene and reduce sanitation-related health risks.

The Offinso Municipal Assembly expressed hope that residents will comply with the directive and turn out for the exercise.

Residents of Abofour are expected to clear drains, sweep public spaces, and dispose of waste at designated points during the four-hour exercise.
