Abofour Health Centre Offers Free Blood Pressure Screening Throughout May for Hypertension Awareness Month
ABOFOUR– This May, as Ghana joins the world to observe Hypertension Awareness Month, Abofour Health Centre is offering free blood pressure checks to the public at its Out Patient Department and Public Health Unit.
The initiative aims to encourage early detection and prevention of high blood pressure, a condition often called the “silent killer” because many people live with it without noticeable symptoms.
“I am Nurse Owusu-Ansah, popularly known as Akuraase Nurse, together with Public Health Nurse Sister Faah, encouraging the public to know their blood pressure status and take charge of their health,” the announcement stated.
“High blood pressure is often called the ‘silent killer’ because many people may have it without noticing any symptoms. Early detection saves lives.”
Residents are invited to visit the OPD and Public Health Unit throughout May for free screening, health education, and professional advice on managing and preventing hypertension.
Health officials at the centre stressed that waiting until complications arise can be dangerous, and urged community members to take advantage of the free service.
“Don’t wait until complications arise. Pass through our units for screening, health education, and professional advice. Your health is our concern,” the nurses said.
The centre says the campaign reflects its commitment to community health and preventive care under the theme: _Your Health is Our Concern_.
