Self-Assessment and Public Scrutiny

Hon. Owusu Amoah has rated his first year performance at *80%*, citing the volume of projects initiated and completed despite resource constraints.

The high self-rating has sparked discussion locally, with residents weighing the completed projects against those still pending or abandoned, notably the Abofour Market bridge.

What this means for Offinso South: The education and health sectors appear to have received the most visible attention, with three classroom blocks and a KG block completed, and the Abofour Health Centre project brought to completion.

Sanitation and security also recorded tangible steps, though the abandoned bridge project leaves a gap in market infrastructure.

Suggestions for the Road Ahead:

Prioritize stalled projects: Resuming the Abofour Market bridge construction would address a long-standing bottleneck for traders and commuters.

Strengthen monitoring and timelines: With several projects marked “started” or “ongoing,” setting clear completion timelines could improve public trust.

Deepen community engagement: Working closely with local groups can help identify urgent needs and track delivery.

Focus on sustainability: Ensure completed facilities like toilets and school blocks are maintained through proper municipal budgeting and oversight.

Communicate challenges transparently: Where funding or contractor issues cause delays, clear communication can help manage expectations.

As the MCE enters year two, residents will be watching whether the momentum in education and health can extend to completing abandoned projects and tackling road infrastructure at scale.
