“Don’t Abandon Projects When You’re Transferred” — Most Rev Bishop John Yaw Affoakwa Tells Ghana Govt to Copy Catholic Church Model.

Obuasi, Ghana— Most Rev. Bishop John Yaw Affoakwa Catholic Bishop of Obuasi is calling on Ghana’s government officials and world leaders to copy one practice that keeps the Catholic Church progressing: finish the project before starting a new one.

Speaking this week, Most Rev.Bishop John Yaw Affoakwa explained it plainly. When a Catholic priest is transferred to another parish, the new priest does not stop the building, school, clinic, or program the last priest started. He continues it to completion.

“That’s what makes the Catholic Church different and progressing,” Most Rev.Bishop John Yaw Affoakwa said.

“Projects don’t die because a priest was transferred. The next priest takes over and finishes the work.”

He said Ghana loses millions of cedis every year because government projects are abandoned when ministers, DCEs, or MPs change.

Buildings stay half-done. Funds are wasted. Communities suffer.

Most Rev.Bishop John Yaw Affoakwa’s appeal is direct: Government officials in Ghana and leaders worldwide should adopt this continuity rule.

Make it policy that every new leader must complete projects started by their predecessor before starting new ones.

“Institutions move forward when priorities outlast personalities,” he added.
