SABRONUM MARKET WOMEN CRY OUT OVER DANGEROUS, FLOODED TRADING SPACE

Market women at Sabronum in the Ahafo Ano South East District of the Ashanti Region are making a passionate appeal to authorities over the deplorable state of their Tuesday market, describing it as dangerous and unfit for trading.

According to the traders, their market shed has been severely damaged by rain and heavy winds, leaving them exposed to harsh weather and health risks each market day.

“We fear for our lives and our health every Tuesday,” one trader lamented. “The place is destroyed, and when it rains, we cannot sell. The wind blows our goods away. This new market place is not helping us in the community.”

The women say they have repeatedly lodged complaints with their Assembly Members and the Sabronum Traditional Council, including Nana Kofi Asante, but no concrete action has been taken to fix the problem.

Frustrated by the delays, the market women are now calling directly on their Member of Parliament, Hon. Yakubu Mohammed, District Chief Executive Hon. Yaba Nelson Ibrahim, and Hon. M.K., Assembly Member for Abofour Kwaso Electoral Area, to intervene.

They are also appealing to the central government to fulfill the 24-hour market promise made by His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama for their community.

The traders say a modern, secure market facility will not only protect them from the weather but also boost trade and safety in Sabronum.
