Offinso North, Ashanti Region – The Rural Telephony Project for Offinso North has taken a major step forward after equipment arrived in the district on 5th June 2026 and was delivered to various stations for installation and operationalization.

Constituents in Nkwaankwaa, Mankramso, Nkwaduoano, Akrofua, Dwenedabi, Seseko, Mpaepaamu, Brehoma, and Nyamebekyere have welcomed the development, saying it brings them closer to reliable network connectivity.

Speaking after recieving the equipment from the Ministry, traditional leaders, local authorities, and commuters praised Dr. Fred Kyei Asamoah, MP for Offinso North, the District Chief Executive, and the District Assembly for lobbying to bring telephony services to the area.

In a show of strong support, traditional leaders said they have offered prayers to their gods against anyone who will be an obstacle to the progress of the project. They vowed that the communities will not allow anything to derail the connectivity drive.

Latest status update:

1. Nkwaduoano: Site is operational and already passing traffic.

2. Seseko: Site built and operationalized, but currently down. Restoration work is ongoing.

3. Akumadan & Mankramso: Sites constructed, awaiting integration and activation. Equipment for these stations arrived 5th June 2026.

4. Nkwaankwaa, Dwenedabi, Akrofua, Brehoma, Nyamebekyere & Mpaepaamu: Communities yet to be captured. GIFEC says a drive test will be conducted, after which equipment delivered on 5th June will be fixed at designated stations for operationalization.

Traditional leaders said once all sites are fully activated, the project will transform communication, business, and education in “this modern Ghana.”

Commuters added that reliable network coverage will make travel and emergency response safer along rural routes.

GIFEC, working with contractors and subcontractors, has reaffirmed its commitment to complete all sites before the end of 2026.

Residents say they are optimistic and will continue to support their MP and district authorities to ensure every community gets connected.
