Stop the Disrespect — Even Akufo-Addo Respects Mahama.
The General Overseer of Leaders Light International Church, Apostle Dr. Samuel Kofi Dadzie, has expressed concern about how some Ghanaian youth are misusing social media to attack and insult the country’s leaders, especially the President.
He cautioned that the youth should not take advantage of ‘Freedom of Speech’ to disrespect national leaders, because those who have held leadership roles before can attest to how difficult it is to satisfy millions of people as a leader.
According to him, former President Akufo-Addo cannot open his mouth to insult President John Dramani Mahama even if he [Nana Addo] disagrees with him about something.
Akufo-Addo held the highest office of the land for 8 solid years, and he is aware that no President can meet the demands of every single Ghanaian citizen in just a day, he added.
He indicated that it is only those who have never been President or occupied a leadership position who insult either the former or current President, including Asantehene, Ga Mantse, and other prominent people who are working tirelessly to change the fortunes of the country.
He further said that the youth of today are joining their early graves due to a lack of respect for the elderly, even though God has instructed children to obey their parents so they may prosper and live long.
“The saddest aspect of it all is that the young people who are insulting the President, Asantehene, GA Matse, and other prominent people through social media wouldn’t get the opportunity to even clean their shoes, stressing that respect and humility are key to success.”
Apostle Dr. Samuel Dadzie stated that insults cannot fix a collapsing economy, but if the youth address issues retarding the development of the country in a diplomatic manner, the President or leader in charge will listen to them in good faith and find a solution to bring peace to the country rather than using abusive words.
The General Overseer of Leaders Light International Church hinted that due to the attitude being portrayed by the youth currently, when they attain the age of 50-60 years, they will start apologizing for their actions even when nobody is chasing or instructing them to do so.
He made these remarks to Kontihen Kofi Oboh during their Thanksgiving Service held at Osabene, Eastern Region, on Sunday, May 24, 2026.
Dr. Kofi Dadzie then advised the youth to give the needed respect to the leaders of the country so they may live long and refrain from anything that will negatively impact their lives in the future.
