From Promise to Progress: 20-Seater Ultra-Modern Toilet Facility Commissioned at Kumawu Market Square.
KUMAWU – Less than a year after the sod was cut, the Sekyere Kumawu District Assembly has commissioned a 20-seater ultra-modern toilet facility at the Kumawu Market Square, marking a key milestone in the district’s sanitation and public health agenda.
The commissioning ceremony took place today, led by the Assembly’s leadership alongside constituency executives.
The project was first launched in November last year, when officials broke ground for construction at the busy market hub.
“This facility is a significant step towards improving sanitation, promoting public health, and enhancing the trading environment for our market women, traders, and residents,” the District Chief Executive said during the ceremony.
“It reflects our continuous dedication to delivering people-centered development and improving the living conditions of our communities.”
The new facility is designed to serve the high daily traffic at Kumawu Market Square, addressing long-standing concerns about hygiene and access to safe sanitation for traders and shoppers.
District officials say the project will reduce open defecation, improve public health outcomes, and create a cleaner, more attractive space for commerce.
Appreciation was extended to the District Assembly, constituency executives, traditional authorities, and stakeholders who contributed to bringing the project to completion.
“This project aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 6 on clean water and sanitation,” the DCE noted, adding that the Assembly remains committed to projects that directly impact lives and support national growth.
Leaders at the event reaffirmed their commitment to rolling out more development interventions across Sekyere Kumawu that are responsive to the needs of residents.
“Together, we are building a cleaner, healthier, and more progressive Sekyere Kumawu,” the statement concluded.
The commissioning adds to ongoing efforts by the Assembly to upgrade market infrastructure and public services across the district
