Imam Ilyas Muhammed Urges Action on Sanitation, Health, and Roads in Akumadan

Akumadan, Offinso North – Imam Ilyas Muhammed of Akumadan Zongo Central Mosque has called on authorities in Offinso North to enforce existing laws on the monthly sanitation exercise and to fast-track key development projects in the district capital.

Speaking at the townhall meeting, Imam Muhammed said consistent enforcement of sanitation regulations is critical to prevent disease outbreaks and keep Akumadan clean.

“The monthly sanitation exercise exists for a reason. If we enforce it strictly without fear or favor, our communities will be healthier and safer for everyone,” he stated.

The Imam also appealed for the Akumadan Health Center to be upgraded to a full hospital status.

He noted that the current facility is overstretched and unable to meet the growing health needs of residents across the district.

“Our people travel long distances for specialized care. Upgrading the health center will save lives and reduce the burden on families,” he said.

In addition, Imam Muhammed urged the swift completion of the Canaan-Zongo street project, describing the road as vital for trade, mobility, and access to the Zongo community.

The stalled project, he said, has caused hardship for commuters and traders, especially during the rainy season.

He called on the Offinso North District Assembly, traditional leaders, and residents to work together to ensure these projects move from promise to delivery.

Residents at the gathering echoed his concerns, saying improved sanitation enforcement, a better-equipped hospital, and a completed road would directly improve daily life in the Offinso North capital.
