Asantehemaa-Sompahene Urges Presidential Action on LGBTQ Bill, Reaffirms Kumasi Crackdown

The Asantehemaa-Sompahene, Nana Kwaku Afriyie, has appealed to President John Dramani Mahama to move beyond any doubts and give assent to the LGBTQ bill, describing it as a necessary step in response to growing public expectations.

Addressing the media at a press briefing, he said persistent prayers and calls from sections of the public, especially faith-based groups, show that many Ghanaians are looking up to the President for a clear decision.

Nana Kwaku Afriyie noted that the moment demands bold leadership and urged the President to act without yielding to fear or outside influence.

He also reiterated the resolve of the Manhyia Palace to enforce discipline in Kumasi, particularly through its ongoing sanitation and decongestion campaign.

According to him, traders and other individuals who continue to operate in unauthorized areas or disregard laid-down directives will face sanctions, as the exercise remains active and uncompromising.
