Akumadan NHIS Office Closure: Offinso North Youth Deserves Better! – Deputy Regional Secretary Throws Subtle Support

The Ashanti Regional Deputy Secretary of the ruling National Democratic Congress [NDC], Prof. Daniel Baah Acheamfour, has backed calls for employment opportunities for the youth of Offinso North, particularly those whose efforts contributed to the party’s victory.

His comments come amid growing concerns over the closure of the Akumadan office of the National Health Insurance Scheme [NHIS] and the broader conversation about youth unemployment and local appointments in the district.

Speaking in an interview with the media, Prof. Acheamfour said the hardworking youth whose sacrifices and relentless efforts yielded victory for the NDC deserve to be given opportunities as a reward for their labour.

According to him, the narrative that the party lacks competent people in the Offinso North District is false and must be dispelled.

“Most of my executives in the Offinso North District, from branch to constituency level, are holders of degrees and masters degrees. They have the requisite qualifications and competence to serve the district in many capacities,” he stated.

Prof. Acheamfour stressed that empowering local youth with jobs and appointments will not only motivate the party base but also ensure effective administration, as locals understand the challenges of the district better.

He added that giving opportunities to the youth of Offinso North, especially those aligned with the NDC who toiled in opposition, is a matter of fairness and sustainability for the party’s future in the Ashanti Region.

Residents in Akumadan have in recent weeks expressed worry over the operational challenges facing the NHIS office, with some calling on government to resolve staffing and administrative issues to restore full services.

Youth groups in the district have also intensified calls for inclusion in government appointments, arguing that Offinso North has a pool of qualified graduates who remain unemployed despite their contributions to the party.

Efforts to get a response from the management of the NHIS on the Akumadan office closure were unsuccessful as of press time.
