Youths Urged to Participate in Communal Labour to Keep Communities Clean

Youths across the country have been urged to actively participate in communal labour and clean-up exercises organised by traditional authorities and community leaders to help maintain clean and hygienic environments.

Speaking in an exclusive interview, Nana Kofi Yeboah, the Abakomahene of Agyemankrom, a suburb of the Dormaa Central Municipality in the Bono Region, said it is the responsibility of everyone, particularly the youth, to support clean-up exercises organised by traditional and political leaders.

He stressed that the Dormaahene, Osagyefo Oseadeayo Dr. Agyemang Badu II, has laid a strong foundation for regular clean-up exercises in Dormaa, and urged residents of surrounding communities to emulate the initiative through active participation to promote a clean and healthy environment.

The Abakomahene revealed that the youth, together with Nananom, had embarked on a communal labour exercise to clear bushes along the road from Agyemankrom to Antwirifo and from Agyemankrom to Dabaabi.

He explained that the overgrown vegetation along the roads posed a risk to motorists and pedestrians, potentially leading to accidents.

He stressed that residents, rather than the government, would bear the consequences because the route is mainly used by local residents travelling between Agyemankrom and Dormaa Ahenkro hence the need for the residents to clear the bush rather than waiting on government to do it.

He said the exercise had significantly improved visibility along the roads, enabling drivers to see approaching vehicles and pedestrians from a greater distance.

According to him, clearing the bushes would prevent road accidents and make transportation along the routes safer and easier for residents.
