We look forward to the reopening of Krobo NTC after the Committee of Enquiry has submitted its report to Gov’t – Krobohen

Ɔyeadeɛyie Asa Akompanin, Chief of Krobo who doubles as the Kyidomhene of the Techiman Traditional Area in the Bono East Region has stated, the Community and Stakeholders are looking forward to the reopening of the Krobo Nursing Training College after the committee constituted by the Ministry of Health to investigate the unrest at the school have officially submitted their report to the government.

The Ministry of Health on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, temporarily closed the Nursing Training College at Techiman Krobo, following reports of unrest and a breakdown in discipline among students.

The Students earlier staged a peaceful protest against their Principal Dr. Mrs. Hellen Gifty Dwamena Amoah over unfair treatment and alleged mismanagement demanding her removal from office.

The Krobo Community, Old Students Association, Parents and Other Pressure Groups called for the school’s immediate reopening for the final-year trainees to prepare for their upcoming Nursing and Midwifery Council Licensing Examinations while the investigations surrounding the happenings in the institution is resolved.

But the school remained closed as the Ministry of Health constituted a 7-member committee chaired by Prof. Vida Nyagre Yekong – Deputy the Registrar of Health Facilities Regulatory Authority, Nurse and former Dean of School of Nursing, UDS to investigate matters concerning the unrest and was expected to submit a comprehensive report to the Minister on or before 11th August, 2026.

Speaking at the Pramaso Palace during the celebration of the 2026 Kyidom New Yam Festival in Krobo, Nana Assah Akompanin who was also a member of the Committee of Enquiry announced that, after one month of the school’s closure, the Committee have completed every investigations, made recommendations and formally submitted their report to government pending the institution’s reopening.

He used the opportunity to praise the President John Dramani Mahama led National Democratic Congress government for giving his community their fare share of development since coming into power.

Ɔyeadeɛyie Asa Akompanin said the face of the Krobo Township has seen massive transformation as all their roads have been tarred under this government therefore President John Dramani Mahama, the Member of Parliament who doubles as the Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Hon. Lawyer Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare and Hon. Adom Kwabena Johnson the District Chief Executive for Techiman North deserved applause.

For his part, Hon. Adom Kwabena Johnson, District Chief Executive for Techiman North on behalf of the President Mahama and the Member of Parliament for Techiman North Constituency Lawyer Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare assured the good People of Krobo to expect more developmental projects in their community.

He mentioned the ongoing construction of Dormitories at the Krobo Nursing Training College and the Krobo Community Day Senior High School which the MP intends to turn into a Boarding school as well as the town roads which are all seeing bitumen at the moment.
