MP Engages Hospital, Police and Affected Family Over Missing Baby Case in Salaga

The Member of Parliament for Salaga South, Hajia Zuwera Mohammed Ibrahimah, has reaffirmed her commitment to ensuring a thorough and impartial investigation into the reported case of a missing child at the Salaga Government Hospital.

Upon returning to the constituency on Sunday, June 14, the MP immediately commenced a series of engagements focused on the incident.

Her first stop was a meeting with the management of the Salaga Government Hospital, where she sought firsthand information on the circumstances surrounding the disappearance of the baby and the measures being taken by the facility to address the matter.

According to the MP, the discussions provided valuable insights into ongoing efforts to establish the facts and support the investigative process.

As part of her fact-finding mission, Hajia Zuwera also visited the two midwives implicated in the case.

She met one of the midwives, who is currently receiving treatment at the Salaga Government Hospital after falling ill, and also interacted with the second midwife, who remains in police custody on court remand while investigations continue.

The Salaga South legislator further held discussions with the Municipal Police Commander, who briefed her on the latest developments and the ongoing efforts by the police and other security agencies to locate the missing baby and uncover the circumstances surrounding the case.

Expressing her concern, Hajia Zuwera assured the public of her full support for all institutions involved in the investigation, emphasizing the need for transparency, fairness, and justice.

“It is my sincere hope that the ongoing investigations will establish the facts and lead to a just and fair resolution of the matter,” she stated.

The MP and her team also visited Kulpi to console the affected family.

She offered words of comfort and solidarity, particularly to the mother of the missing child, acknowledging the emotional trauma and uncertainty the family is enduring.

“As a mother, I can only imagine the pain, anxiety, and uncertainty the family is experiencing. My thoughts and prayers remain with them,” she said.

Beyond the missing child case, Hajia Zuwera participated in several community engagements, including attending funerals in Salaga, Kulpi, and Kalande, where she joined grieving families and residents to pay her respects and offer condolences.

The MP reiterated her commitment to serving the people of Salaga South and standing with them during both their celebrations and challenges.
